UBC’s Language Sciences Undergraduate Research Conference (LSURC) is an interdisciplinary language-focused research conference that was established through the partnership between UBC’s Speech and Linguistics Student Association (SALSA) and the UBC Language Sciences Initiative seven years ago. Our 8th annual conference will be taking place on February 28th and March 1st, 2025.
The goal of LSURC is to create an opportunity for undergraduate students to explore, through the work of their peers, language and communication research with an interdisciplinary perspective. Any undergraduate or first-year graduate student exploring language-related topics is invited to apply. Whether your research is rooted in Linguistics, Psychology, Computer Science, Applied Sciences, English, Education, or any other field, we invite you to share your research with the language sciences community!
Additionally, you will be treated to a plenary session featuring talks and a round table discussion from guest faculty on Language Communities & Human Connection. This theme applies solely to the plenary speakers, which means that you are welcome to present on any language-related topic.
Come share your work, meet peers with similar interests, and learn about all the language-related research you didn’t know existed!
