#004: Imagine Day!

September 2nd, 2008 by Mary Leong

Currently listening to: “Just Dance” – Lady GaGa feat. Akon

So today’s been an absolute madhouse; I’m still trying to get things straightened out in my head, but we’ll get there eventually. A sea of bright colours greeted me after a decidedly lengthy bus ride (hurrah for public transit, and thank goodness for Les Cowboys Fringants songs playing on loop on my MP3). The Arts students were decked out in purple, while the other faculties were showing their spirit with their appropriately-coloured clothing. After trawling around the Buchanan compound, I managed to find my MUG and joined the motley crew: we were led on campus tours, talks, and other such activities. I’m so thrilled to have met a bunch of my fellow Arts One students; they’re all quite terrific- a real bunch of laughs, from what I’ve seen so far- and the profs are equally entertaining. On a separate note, I can’t stress enough how the weather has an uncanny knack of being particularly finicky, especially on days like this: I’m definitely investing in a pair of wellies much like the ones Paddington Bear dons, as I’ve quite frequently thought of doing. But I digress, as usual- what was I saying before that? Oh yes. The pep rally at the War Memorial Stadium was terribly fun: there’s nothing quite like seeing large colour-blocked bunches of excitable first-year students and MUG leaders waving balloons/feather boas/handkerchiefs and chanting their little lungs out. Most entertaining and rather heartwarming, I daresay.

In other news, I’ve my first class at eleven tomorrow morning. Psych 100! Hurrah!

More news coming your way some time soon!
