A Collection of Times Before Finals…

Currently at Koerner library. Starving and down to my last orange. Need to go home to make dinner soon, but I refuse to give up my hard earned spot! (Hey I was here as soon as the library opened this morning). Guess everyone here in the silent study area will have to put up with my grumbling tummy. So I realize I haven’t blogged in a while and after 6 straight hours of biology today, I thought I take a productive break from the wonderful world of cell biology and upload a few pictures. There, quick and easy, now it looks like I’ve put some effort into this blog. 🙂 Tis all for now. Good luck with finals everybody! <3

1. Sunday Morning at Granville Island
2. Yummy Seafood!
3. Fisherman’s Wharf, Steveson
4. First snowfall
5. I miss the Olympics!
6. Stayed at Fairmont Hotel, Whistler
7. This is where I live.
8. Season Pass to Mt Seymour
9. Beer Tasting at 12pm
10. I <3 my blackberry

CSP’s Got Talent

(Sorry kinda overdue)

Once upon a time, in the land of UBC, within the Faculty of Science exists a program unlike any other. Where approximately 168 talented individuals come together to form a first year science program of awesomeness, otherwise known as CSP or the Coordinated Science Program. Now within this awesome group lies an even awesomer (is that a word) group, commonly referred to as CSP council. The council recognize the hidden potential of each and every single individual and wanted to show the world how talented CSP is. So they got together and brainstorm ideas. THE RESULT?

CSP's Got Talent

When: Friday, January 15th

Where: Ladha

Who: Featuring CSP students and professors

SUCCESS! Thanks to all those who came out, put up with my lame MC skills and annoying yo mamma/knock knock jokes. So many talented performers from nun chucks to singing to martial arts. You guys ROCK.

Yes, CSP’s definitely GOT TALENT!

Hit the slopes: the aftermath

OMG. Boarding is so much FUN and very addicting.

Mtn
From my cellphone camera

Story of the weekend: After only 2 hours of beginner/first timers snowboarding lessons (how to properly place the boot in the binding among other basics), us being the overconfident, egotistic, adventurous people that we are, assumed we were ready for the summit. How we reached that conclusion I have no idea. I blame the rush of adrenaline from going down the bunny hill. Anyways, summit was craaaazy especially the chairlift part. Who would’ve thought getting off a chairlift could be so catastrophic? But despite all the screaming and pain, learning the hard way was quite the experience. & I mean that in a good way, we accomplish something I never thought possible!

The morning after: “OUCH!!!!” is an understatement. Every single joint, bone and muscle in my body aches. I have countless bruises, my war scars. More importantly, it HURTS to move, eat, talk, cough, laugh and breathe. So an 8 hour bus ride later, I’m finally back at UBC in PAIN with physics pre-class assignment to do, math problems to attack, and biology reading to catch up on…all the while wishing I was still on the slopes.

HIT the slopes

First weekend back to school is infamously know for it’s ski trips and this year is no exception. It’s obviously time to hit the slopes and shred some powder. Except…ohhh maybe, I’ve never snowboard before in my life. This promises to be a tres interesting weekend filled with plenty of falls, sore butts and aching bones.

Because I’m heading out to Silver Star Mountain Resort with all the wonderful people from SSA (Singapore Student Association). I failed to do my research back in October as I assumed Silver Star would be somewhere by Whistler-ish. Big Joke. Turns out, it’s over 8-ish hours away from UBC by Vernon. H#S7%^*VSS WHAAAAAT??? I’m gonna be spending more time on the bus than on the slopes. Stay positive. I’m sure the bus ride will be fun. As the quote goes, “Sometimes the journey is more rewarding then the destination.”

A little preview of my weekend:

New Moon Gave Me A Massive Migraine Headache

& I honestly don’t know what the fuss is all about. I feel like a pedophile every time Taylor Lautner (aka Jacob) comes on. He’s ONLY 17. Doesn’t really help when everyone in the crowd “oohs” and “ahhhs” every time Jacob takes off his shirt. We went to the 7:30 show at the Scotiabank theatre downtown. Of course it was jammed packed with preteen girls. Thank god I didn’t see any of those “Team Edward”, “Team Jacob” shirts. Should have known better than to show up 30 minutes before the movie, we were stuck with those so-close-to-the-screen seats that my neck still aches today. I liked Twilight, but 2 hours of New Moon, for me, was too much. Too mushy gushy. Too lovely dovey.

Should have watched UFC last night instead.
