Art in Nature

Posted by in Experiences

After previewing and discussing the works of Andy Goldsworthy my students were given an opportunity to respond to his environmental art in our own forest at the school. Students learned about and were allowed to pick any of the invasive species as well as use any of the found materials to create their art piece. As the students were working I took pictures and video to document their thinking and process. A couple of days later I put together a short video for the kids and showed it to them in class. They just loved seeing themselves and their art. It served as a wonderful experiential lesson in our local environment, as well as helped the kids to see art in a new and interesting way.
