The United Nations was founded after the Second World War. Their propose is maintaining world peace and promoting common development. It is so hard for them to consider very little things. And we could also find that United Nations is a institution to solve problem, most of their work is to solve the problem which are hard for the local government. This feature means problems could not always been figured out completely and immediately. Unpaid is another thing which is different others. 

However, the social entrepreneurship’s aim is to give the poor an opportunity to change the quantity of their life. Give them money and teach them how to run their own business. This is the businessmen’s way. In the video we could know the Nobel Laureate Muhammad Yunus saw he just lent 7 dollars to the 40 people, and could make all these people to support themselves. So he made 5 billion dollars in loans all over the world to make the poor live better. Arc is the same, Sauder students have chance to help the African people run their companies. At the same time, the students and alumni could practice their skill which learned in university. Nothing could be better than practicing what they have learn in the real world and solving the real problem.

We could not always donate money because that is not a correct way to save their life. Here is an old saying in China:”Teaching them how to fish is better than giving them fish.”

Today is the 11th of  November, a special day for both Canada and China. Chinese people always call today is the “Single’s day” and many merchants would like to use this opportunity to take advantage of it. Tianmao, a brand belongs to Alibaba which is like “Chinese eBay”, would give the biggest discount among many of the online stores today. It is so crazy that the volume sale reached 1 billion yuan (a bout 182 million dollars) in the first two minutes. The most incredible news is in the 38 minutes, the volume sale increased to 10 billion yuan ( about 1.82 billion dollars)!

The blog mainly talked about some tips how Sue make her business successful. Hiring help, getting organized, working with a professional photographer, investing in listing software, employing excellent customer service and never sweating returns. Well organized and excellent service are always the most important ways to keep customers. Photos are so important that they could affect the consumers decisions. Sometimes we could see some funny pictures that the clothes they bought online seems so different from the ones  models wearing which the sellers provided. What sellers should do basically is sell all their stuffs.

Commenting on Yi-fang Liu’s post

I came across Yi-fang‘s post named “Google Inc.- The Ideal Work Place” which focus on the importance of the work places’ environment.

Yi-fang mentioned in her blog that we have learned about the company called Zappos which treat their stuff like family members. Zappos’ CEO does not have his own office and just work near their employees everyday. What Google does is more humanized, they provide their employees with slides, outdoor activity areas, nap pods, and much more. If I was one of their stuff, I have to say this kind of organizational culture will make me never to consider about job-hopping. 

What I am considering is the reason why Google and Zappos are famous for their organizational culture is that there are still only a few firms work like that. The environment of Google could not be copied easily because that will cause a huge amount of cost. The firm should have enough economic power to build the facilities and be attractive enough to their stuff to work for them even there are on strict rules. Zappos is an example for the similar organizational culture but a simpler one. Their operators need to work in a relaxing environment which could keep them a positive mood. Because they are key elements of the quantity of after-sale. But the others may do not need to be so relaxed during the work-time. I believe the efficiency could be developed if the environment was more strict. Be strict do not means worse treating.

As one of most brilliant group members who can always think out some great ideas for our assignment. I believe his blog could be impressive. Big Brother Marketing, an attractive title make me want to read the whole passage. I used to consider the” big brother marketing” a new concept about marketing strategy before I Google it.

Mark has mentioned, information that could influence a company’s strategy greatly, is so important for the companies nowadays. Huge companies like Google and Facebook have their own individual profile of the users. This kind of advantage make Google and Facebook to be able to find their target audience. On the contrary, small companies, who do not have that ability, prefer to purchase their target market’s structure’s information from them.

However, in my opinion, whether the users, who use Facebook and Google, want the Internet companies to sell their information is the most significant problem. I remember NSA’s widespread surveillance network was a famous business ethics issue happened in 2013. That represented that users did not want their information to be given away. Although the purchase can help the small firms to save a lot of money and time on research, Facebook and Google should make an announcement about this kind of business will not have invasion of users’ privacy. and see the feedback . The make the decision whether should they get benefit from it.

Skipping the Front Desk, and Checking In With a Click

The more and more powerful smartphones make people’s live much easier than before. Almost everything could be done on the smartphones. Nowadays, an increasing number of hotels want their guests to be able to unlock their rooms with their phones.

In September, Hyatt Hotel and Resorts started testing mobile keys at one of its hotels in New York City, a pilot it expects to wrap up by early 2015. Hilton Worldwide will start testing the keys as well and will finish it at the same time as Hyatt. However, there are still some challenges are waiting for them to solve. The biggest one is the convenience trumps security. No matter who stay in hotels, security must be the most significant factor for them to consider about. Meanwhile, investing in a technology that might become obsolete or never take off is one of the risk hotels face in building a mobile key program. The main reason of these hotels want to try to test the new key is a lot of people hoping to skip the front desk. The action will make the checking in process more convenience, but the inputs of funds and technology support make it not easy to allow all the hotel to do that in a short time.

Basic on my own experience, I did not feel checking in and out at front desk are something make me feel bad. And I seldom need to wait for a long time to check in. So in my opinion, the high-end hotels could use this kind of system to promote their reputation and higher the quantity of service. The low-end, even middle-end are no need to do that in recent years.

Chinese “National Automobile” lost 115 million dollars

As the best-selling automobile brand in China twenty years ago, Xiali becomes the firm which has the heaviest losses in the Chinese automobile market now. After the first three seasons in 2014, it has lost about 115 million dollars.

Two decades ago, Xiali made a lot of Chinese people to own their first car, and it has been named as “National Automobile”. The firm set many new records in car-making industry, and took up 40% of the taxi market in 2000. However, Xiali was hit hard since Beijing government announced to replace all these taxi by other better cars and it lost one of its main market gradually. Nowadays, Chinese automobile market is full of competition, the situation make Xiali more difficult to turn the table. But the deeper cause of the problem might be the acquirement by Yiqi Group. After being acquired, Xiali miss the opportunity to innovate and only focus on the low-end market. Now that, the consumption level has been higher and higher; less and less consumers would like to purchase Xiali as a part of their live.

In my opinion, let Yiqi Group go public is the most important way to save Xiali, because this action will send a kind of positive information to the public and let the future of Xiali to be worth being looked forward.

New stadium Yes or No

Thousands even millions of people flooded into South Africa in 2010 for the World Cup, which is one of the most popular event in the world now. However, whether South Africa gained huge amount of benefit from it, it depends on what kinds of benefit we mentioned.

As one of the BRICS, they need a chance like that to let more and more people to know them; no matter they gained or not. On a reading for the preparation of COMM101 we could know that the stadium, South African government built for the 2010 World Cup specifically, might face the fate of being demolished. Because it is hard for them to cover the operating cost only getting money from the $4 visiting fee. Thus, is it necessary for the next country which is going to hold a big event like World Cup and Olympic build totally new stadiums? Obviously the answer is NO. If the city has some old ones but not too old, these stadium could be decorated again and will be very nice. Or the city has to build a new one; universities are good choices to locate it. Do not always try to be the biggest one. Service that the government could provide is more significant.

The new opportunity brought by the new policy

The region Indian live may have a lot of previous resources which are the main raw material for many of the industries. Protective development is the most significant measure we should take. Some of the Indian’s live quantities are below the average level. So exploiting the natural resources is a win-win strategy. The companies enter these regions need labor, and the local people could get a better job. Industries could also accelerate the development of local economy and make the town become an industrial district. At the same time, protecting the environment is the another important work to do. We cannot make the area like twenty years ago, people only focused on the production but ignored the environmental problem. Setting up a new model of Eco-industrial park will be a good idea. To experience the Indian’s life could be designed like a tourist program, and the beautiful scenery is also very attractive to the tourists.

The policy for the First Nation’s land give the individuals many chances to change their own life. But that means change their hometown as well.

How to make the production more attractive?

The article which provided on the connect wrote about Blackberry has launched their new product named Passport. Mr Chen, the chief executive of Blackberry, said Passport has a bigger screen, longer battery usage, and the most important is the lower price. However, all these advantage did not attract the consumers attention successfully.

Maybe Blackberry do not worse than Apple or Samsung in technology but they miss the opportunity to become popular. It just like Nokia, I believe everyone owned a Nokia in the past ten years. Finally, the company do not escape the fate of becoming obsolete. In my opinion, Blackberry do not pay attention to the Chinese market. It is so hard to make the North American people try to use Blackberry instead of using their iphone. Apple has occupied a large proportion of market in America and most of the people there own other Apple’s products as well, like macbook, ipad, ipod which could connect with each other.

However, Apple is becoming popular in China, but not everyone could afford them. So this provide a good opportunity for Blackberry. Another reason is Chinese consumers always follow others that some of them do not know what they really need. If Blackberry could strength the publicity and advertise a lot in China, they would get unexpected benefit from Chinese market.

Whether the low-end brand benefit the company focus on the high-end production

These days, I have always considered about a question since we did the assignment about Tesla. In that homework, one of my recommendation is to produce a new brand which face the lower class, like Mercedes-Benz has Smart. So whether the low-end brand benefit the company focus on the high-end production originally.

As we all know, after iphone 5, there are two new types for iphone,  and one of them is cheaper. Maybe it is not difficult for most of the American families to afford iphone, but it is still not a low expenditure for most of the Chinese families. However, I seldom see someone use 5C. If people like iphone, they would choose 5S. The others will purchase some cheaper ones like Samsung, HTC or Blackberry.

Why the low-end production of iphone do not get a success as Smart’s? In my opinion, 5C did not have an unique advantage among all these thousands kinds of cellphones. Only the lower price may not make the consumers love this cellphone, or the price is not low enough. On the contrary, Smart has a quite low price, novel looking as well as the good quality, and all these make it special. Only the special things could catch people’s eyes right?
