I wouldn’t say it is an essay, more a journal. It is what Chinese elementary school students do as homework generally. Also I wouldn’t say it is an expression of the pressure on Chinese students. in some point, yes, it shows how a Chinese student’s thoughts, but at some points, I can also see it might be a journal that a student wrote to pass the homework and did it in purpose o let it funny. Anyways what wrote in the journal, what the students as try to say and his understanding is true – a little problem can cause such big problem. It may sound funny, but I also amazed by how mature the sixth grade student is, the responsibility he feels may be greater than an adult.

In other countries’ people’s mind, there always be a problem with Chinese policy, education is one of the example. When people believed something they think is true, they will starts to pursue to find out more about it. Then there are more problems come out. Then people believed what they find out are evidence of what they believed in. so any misleading information may cause the bad image of certain things in people’s mind. This is also works in business area. When people got a source by chance about certain product or company, they starts to pay attention to those things happens n life and things reported in newsletter or other social media, then make connection with the information they received previously. Most of the case, people find that they believed in is true. This is not only because that what they believed in is really true, but when they believed in that, they can only see the aspects they they are looking for or they want to see. So, generally things became true, and people start to refuse certain things ot love certain things more. Companies tend to use this aspect to influence customer’s thinking, either towards their own company or towards their competitors. But some of them may not try to present certain information, but what people see is different. There always be misleading or misunderstanding of certain things. Pepsi may advertise on how better it is than coco cola. But the Chinese students may not want to express the pressure under Chinese education system. People encoding things in certain ways, which always people have the same path of things or at least the basic stage of thinking. Nut what people decoding are different, based on their personal experience and understating enhanced by their surrounding environment, companies can use it to enhance their goal, but also may cause problem for other companies or our society.

For companies like Coca cola who are targeting kids, that can be define as unethical. At the same time, there are lots of companies that do not target kids, actually should avoid purchasing from kid, but their actual potential customers are those they want to ‘avoid’ from.One example will be the Wired Waffle- a kind of energy waffle.

The basic idea is to combine the energy drink with regular waffles, also add flavors in it, such as, chocolate, bacon……I want to ask which kid can refuse from waffle, especially with energy drink. As we know, there are already problems with energy drinks to kids in the market. Kids are a nig part of the market for energy drink. Energy drink makes kids excited but not good for their body.

How can the company avoiding purchasing from kids?

By putting a little word on the package is not going to get ride from kids’ attention. Kids are going to buy it crazy. Parents cannot avoid their kids form the waffles, but it is not good for kids to eat a waffle that contains two and a half red bulls, one five hours energy shot,  and three cups of coffee. The problem is not only happened to this particular company, but among a huge amount of companies. Should company think a better and efficient way to avoid the damage of their products on kids?

 

 

Hi American, ice-cream is a gift! Part 2

” the first is innovator, then is imitators, then is the idiot”. The ice-cream is just homemade ice-cream and there is rarely no entry berries for their competitor follow their idea as soon as  the ice-cream is popular in the market. Also their competitor may perform better by developing more advanced website, and providing lower price, or even no delivery cost for local customers. As ice-cream is to melt, so the company also invest a big amount in shipping technique, which turns to be an opportunity for local ice-cream store. So, in addition, ECreamery also need to tell the world that they are the only one that can provide the lifestyle not the ice-cream, and there is no way you can get the same utility when you purchases the same concept from other personalized company even without 20 dollars deliver fee. It doesn’t seem too personalized except the flavor of the ice-cream. The company may provide more personalized gift, rather than just printing different name on the same green packaging. Also there is no slogan or a story behind the company, which is really hard for customers to recognize the different between their competitors and them. Another problem the company is facing is choosing the right delivery channel. whether to only to open online store and shop down retails, or contain both. They think of shooting down retails since online is more profitable. But, for people over 50, who are more believe in only what they can touch are real, are not willing to buy the ice-cream on-line. This means they will lose part of the market share, especially for people who invest friends to home regularly to fill up their retired life.

In order to be success in the industry, the company is not only teaching that ice-cream is a gift, but also teaching that they are the only company can provide customers this lifestyle.

 

“The fire fighter”

The company CATEapp develops a Smartphone privacy app – ‘the cheater’s app’. The owner believes that his product saves millions of people’s life and keeps everyone happy every day. On other hand, does it mean we permit cheating and we should protect it? Is it moral to provide such a product? When it comes to the morality issue, the company starts focusing on calling the product a privacy app rather than a cheating app?  But is it just an excuse for investors and owners to feel righteous to develop the product? Or, is it just for customers to fell less guilty when they purchasing the product by saying it are protecting my privacy? Anyways, does it make any different on the product itself by calling it a privacy app or a cheating app?

By paying $4.99 or $9.99 can prevent people from fight, will people buy the product? What more funny is that a police officer is the actually developer of the product. Is that it will help decrease crime rate by preventing fight? In some case it is true. As for the investors, is all the investment about making money? People holds different philosophy, it is not only about money. People should take responsibility to society. The action you take may have a strong impact on the way people thinking and the moral level of our society.  Such as the example the owner provide in the show. If people should jump into the carrot business even if you do not like carrot at all? But the different between the two cases is that getting into carrot business is not going to make any moral issue in our society, not like lurching a cheating app with an unspoken words- go and fell relieved to cheat, we got you!  In order to reposition the product, the company may change the product a little bit, not only change the name as a privacy app. What we cannot deny is that there is a market need for the product. And. Yes, it is a fire fighter, but can the fire fighter really extinguish the fire between people?

“We are doing something no one has done before!” said by the inventors. Yes, as the innovator for the gift ice-cream market, they got the advantage of being the first mover. The 2 million dollars sales by 2007 are significant. But can they keep the advantage in the annually 23billon dollars ice-cream maturity industry? In other word, do they really have the sustainable advantage to keep the company be the only one or the leader in the brand new industry of presenting ice-cream as a gift.

To reposition the website to be a gift site, and provide easy system for customer to create personalized ice-cream by simply getting on the website, designing your flavor, naming your flavor, then  you Personalized flavor ice-cream will being deliver to you. 60% margin shows the company is profit oriented. But the problem is that if customers think 4 packs of ice-cream worth 55dollars plus 20 dollars deliver fee? Instead comparing the personalized ice- cream to other company’s ice-cream, the company compare it with flower. It is true that we don’t think of spending 250 dollars on flower or any other kind of gifts are expensive, but it seems too expensive to spent 75 dollars on an extremely tasty ice-cream.  They are trying to convince customers that ice-cream is not only about tasting good, but also being a gift which shows your personal style and taste, a life style. But are the company’s products responsive to Americans’ traditional thinking? In order word, the problem then become can they teach American that ice-cream is a gift not a dessert you buy while shopping, or eat when you are having a chat with friends and families.

I just realized that not like other store, in Chanel’s customer profiles, they put nationality as a required category. For Chinese customer they may have different tastes than other countries’ people.
