Methodology

Kernel Density

A kernel density surface was created to quantify one’s risk to oil spill incidences. The raster surface was normalized to a range of 0-100 to match the range of the census variables (percentage). The dissemination area (DA) shape file was then spatially joined with the kernel density surface to allow for a final vector layer where each DA was assigned the average value of the raster cells that intercepted the DA.

Geographically Weighted Regression

A GWR model was created after completing an exploratory regression and OLS model.
