About

Pearls for Preceptors is focused on faculty development for family medicine preceptors who work with residents in the UBC Family Practice Residency Program.
It’s a forum for communicating key pieces of information that affect clinical teaching, including curriculum change, assessment, and accreditation, and strategies for incorporating these theories into practice.
It’s also a place to share your ideas with other family physicians who teach our residents. In order to post comments, you will need to log in with your Campus Wide Login(CWL). All UBC faculty members should have a CWL, and if you don’t, you can register online. Clinical faculty should contact Tammy Compton (tammy.compton@familymed.ubc.ca) to request a guest CWL.
We welcome your ideas. If there’s a topic that you would like to see covered, please let us know.
Our primary blog team is made up of physicians and administrators:
Dr. Willa Henry, Program Director
Dr. Eva Knell, Associate Program Director & Lead Faculty, Curriculum
Dr. Christie Newton, Lead Faculty, Faculty Development
Dr. Theresa van der Goes, Lead Faculty, Assessment & Evaluation
Tammy Compton, Education Manager
Lisa Jeans, former Education Manager (2011-2012)
Lindsay Gowland, Program Assistant
Additional faculty contributors will be featured where their expertise aligns with important faculty development topics that are scheduled for the coming year.
Thanks to Ken Harder, Site Director, Chilliwack Site, for graciously sharing the name Pearls for Preceptors.
