The extended practicum can be a very challenging time for all members of the triad. All members of the triad should keep in mind their respective roles during the extended practicum:
School Advisor(s):
- Provide support, encouragement, and advice
- Provide regular observations and appropriate feedback
- Participate in all required triad meetings
- Discuss report card responsibilities with your teacher candidate
- Write an accurate final report on your teacher candidate’s performance
Faculty Advisor:
- Provide support and guidance to other triad members
- Provide regular observations and appropriate feedback
- Arrange for cross check observations if needed
- Coordinate midpoint, interim report (if needed) and final report meetings
- Write an accurate final report on your teacher candidate’s performance
Teacher Candidate:
- Work with school advisors to ensure a gradual immersion into teaching over thirteen ten weeks to reach a minimum of four consecutive weeks at an 80% work load
- Prepare adequately for all courses/units taught
- Act in a professional manner at all times
- Abide by all department, staff, and school rules
- Participate in all triad meetings
- Act as a liaison (if needed) between the school advisor(s) and the faculty advisor
- Reflect appropriately on practice
- Respond appropriately to all feedback received by advisors
- Discuss report card responsibilities with your school advisor and are prepared to assist in the writing of report cards
