Abstract

Everyone has the need for washrooms, but the availability of washrooms when you’re out in public might be limited. Depending one one’s location in the city or ability to use the washroom, the access to public washrooms could be even further restricted. As such the provision of good, accessible, public washroom infrastructure is necessary in cities. In this project, the author analyzes the location of public washrooms in the City of Vancouver to determine holes in the existing infrastructure. The author uses key points in the city, as well as Vancouver’s parks washrooms strategy to determine the potential placement of new public washrooms. Finally, there is discussion of the potential uses of a GIS to do further network analysis of public washroom infrastructure.
