On the whole, this seat-of-the-pants thing has been working out pretty well for me, with the exception of turning up in rainy Penzance in sandals and a tank top.
I got back to Cardiff around noon and stuck around exactly long enough to throw the contents of my duffel bag in the washing machine, eat lunch, switch them to the dryer, book a bed at the Conwy hostel, and sweep them back into my duffel bag. Then I continued north.
The unforeseen circumstance this time was the monster truck rally.
I didn’t know Wales even had monster truck rallies. Getting back to Cardiff Central Station was like swimming upstream against a school of salmon who had recently been the victims of a paint bomb in the colors of the Welsh flag. There was some extremely confusing crowd control going on at Cardiff Central. (I missed this on the way out of the station this morning because I went out the back way).
The upshot is, two ticket queues and much jostling later, I’m on the Manchester-bound train, soon to transfer to the Holyhead train. There will be pictures of Conwy Castle forthcoming. Also I’m still clearing the backlog of posts from my Cornish trip, so never fear, there are Boscastle and Museum of Witchcraft pictures coming your way.
