Fridge Thieves?

The kitchen on my floor is only fifteen feet from my room, but there are three doors between me and it—my room door, the fire door at my end of the hall, and then the kitchen door. A minor but persistent irritation for me is that, while I never lock my bedroom door while I’m in and the fire door has no lock on it, the kitchen door has a simple latch-lock that you need your room key to open. Since I don’t need my key for the first two doors, I never remember to take it with me, which inevitably means I have to haul two doors open again to fetch my key from my bag, and then another two to get back to the door that stymied me.

Locking the kitchen door makes no sense to me. Because a thief is going to get through the locked gate and all four of the keycarded doors between the Aberdare foyer and here, not to mention three stories of stairs, not all of which are the same flight, just to steal my clotted cream from the communal fridge?

The greatest threat to an Aberdare resident’s food is other Aberdare residents. And we all have a key to this kitchen.

I once lived in a huge old house in Pa. and I remember the kitchen had a lock on it as well. On the other side of the kitchen was the backyard. Perhaps that is how someone delivered food items, ice blocks, etc.
Oh to figure this one out!
Perhaps for your Mom to drop off her famous baked goods?
      Sbw~~
