The Scots Storm Cardiff Castle

Since the sky looked like rain, I decided to postpone my visit to St. Fagans till tomorrow, when it’s supposed to be sunny.

I figured today I would go to Cardiff Castle and finish looking around there. I cut through Bute Park to get there. As I was passing the Pettigrew Tea Room in the gatehouse, I saw this:

(You may not be able to see it well because of the lighting, but there is a vast array of baked sweets and savories under that tent.)

While buying a Belgian bun for breakfast, I asked the vendor whether this stand was an every-Saturday thing. He said nah, usually he’s at the riverfront market on Sundays, but he set up here for the game today because pretty soon (it was about eleven in the morning), there’d be thousands of rugby fans walking by.

And I was like, what game?

And then I circumnavigated the castle and found this:

I could only seem to get four of these kiosks in the shot at a time, but there were at least ten globs of red and green and white fan gear in my line of sight.

There was also, unfortunately, a very long line of Scots in blue and white extending out the gates of the castle. Evidently fans started showing up at the bumcrack of dawn and have been finding ways to amuse themselves till the game starts.

(If I show up at the castle as the game is starting, I bet the castle will be deserted. But also, now it’s raining.)

So the castle post will have to wait for another day.
