Self Assessment

Though out English 301 I have learned a lot about my writing and my goals for my future careers. Ever assignment in Technical Communications prepared me for various types of writing formats that are common in every workplace. It focused on formatting and how to get the desired response from the audience that is being addressed.

My number one weakness throughout the course was the grammatical errors that I struggle with catching. Even though I reread a piece of work multiple times these mistakes seem to evade my gaze. This is something that I have struggled with throughout my whole academic career due to growing up in a bilingual household. I continue to work on this issue and employ the use of Grammarly and peer review.

My strength lies in my close attention to detail and the research done prior to beginning to work. With every assignment, I made use of the textbooks advice and examples as well as the examples done by my peers. This helped with my success in each of the assignments required by English 301. This strength of mine comes from the philosophy that I have about learning in general. The preparation and research I do applies to every aspect of my life. With each of my classes, job applications, and graduate applications I utilize my work ethic to help execute every “assignment.” Much of the work done today is done based on a specific format and requires certain aspects to make it a success, therefore it is paramount to use the resources (internet, textbooks) at our disposal. Everything can be improved by looking for examples and employing the formatting and general concepts. In this modern world, many things required day to day have been done before, and doing things well requires research and time to perfect every task that that is asked of me.

My goal to become a physical therapist, personal trainer, and future business owner are all dependent on the drive that I have to do things and to do them well. I am always looking for ways to gain more experience and become more qualified for each of the dreams that I have. I work hard at everything I do, whether that be an English assignment or the graduate applications that determine my next steps in life, and that will help me succeed.
