Comm 101 BlackBerry’s embarrassing situation

The recently released quarter report of BlackBerry shows that they experienced US$965-million loss and US$934-million is due to unsold products. In the second quarter, they made 5.9 million sold, however, iphone 5s&5c sold out 9 million in the first week. Now it is going to be signed that BlackBerry is going to be bought by the largest shareholder.

It can be seen that since the undeniable trend of smartphone, BlackBerry has already developed, manufactured and sold plenty of their own smartphones, but it seems to be too late. The smartphone market has already been conquered by Apple, Samsung, HTC and even Nokia. In similar situation, Nokia performs better than BlackBerry, at least they invented something irreplaceable. Although BlackBerry is also trying to make something innovative, people are getting impatient to try new things, especially in America.

Why don’t BlackBerry try somewhere untouched like Asia? Electronics are not well-spread enough in Asia, a lot of people even don’t have a smart phone. It would be easier to sell once the image of BlackBerry is established and reinforced.

All in all, the emergency for BlackBerry is to break the image it provides before and research for the new one – get a new market position.
