Farm Wonders @ ubcfarm

Welcome to FarmWonders by ubcfarm

More than just the food you eat!

The Centre for Sustainable Food Systems at UBC farm introduces FarmWonders Summer Camp: an innovative, educational and fun summer day camp for children. FarmWonders is a student-run community education initiative committed to promoting environmental awareness through science-based farm learning. We aim to offer a unique experience that allows children to explore the wonders of science at the farm and discover the mysteries of the food that they eat. Find out more here!

Yoga for the People

Everyone of us needs a break, time to relax, reflect and move through our bodies. If you can etch out a little time for yourself during the school term, are interested in yoga, and aren’t too far from Hastings and Cambie you should check out Yoga for the People. They offer different kinds of yoga classes and each class is run by donation. Visit their website for more information.

From Ghost to Flesh: Single Motherhood in the City

The Breakthrough Mamas collective invites you to participate in…

From Ghost to Flesh: Single Motherhood in the City

Part One – From Isolation to Community

Sunday, December 12

6:00-9:00pm

Rhizome Cafe

317 East Broadway

Vancouver, Unceded Coast Salish Territories

Join us for an evening of participatory dialogue (including popular theatre!) and celebratory performances. We challenge the violence of poverty, racism and hetero-patriarchy that isolate us from each other, individuate us in our experiences and prevent us from collectively organizing. We believe mothering can be a revolutionary practice to build a world that is more just and loving.. As we struggle for liberating conditions of motherhood, we want to listen and learn from people, especially those who practice mothering, in our community! So please come out and share your dreams and challenges with us

This event is FREE, with on-site childcare (we have an amazing and experienced crew of childcare organizers!).

Special invite to single mothers and our children, especially those who identify as indigenous, racialized/of colour, and poor/low-income. If you are a mama and you are interested in performing something (poem, song, story…) please get in touch with us (see contact info below).

All genders welcome and celebrated!

Opening by Kat Norris of Indigenous Action Movement.

Featured performers will be listed soon, so stay tuned 🙂

Contact us at 604-710-5480 or breakthrough.mamas@gmail.com

Guide to Resources and Supports for Parents on Campus

The Guide to Resources & Supports for Parents is intended to help connect new and returning students, staff and faculty members who are parents to the resources and supports available to them at UBC and within the larger Vancouver area.

We would like to thank the AMS’s Innovative Project Fund for their support in helping make this project a reality.

If you have any suggestions, comments, or additions for next year’s guide, email CJ Rowe at cj.rowe@ubc.ca.
