Round 7: “Who on earth are you looking at?”
Dong-man walks into Ae-ra’s ward and sees Moo-bin kissing Ae-ra. Dong-man slams the hospital door and leaves the room, then turns back when he calms down. Moo-bin asks if Dong-man likes Ae-ra, who looks desperate for Dong-man’s answer. Dong-man says, “I’m her guardian!”. Ae-ra feels relieved, and meanwhile looks disappointed.
Dong-man tells Ae-ra to keep her distance from Moo-bin, since he knows Moo-bin is a fraud. Ae-ra tells him that as a friend, he should congratulate her instead, because she and Moo-bin are now officially dating.
Ae-ra apologizes to Moo-bin for making that sudden announcement, but Moo-bin says she can’t call it in now, and he asks for those ten dates again.
After Ae-ra says goodbye to Moo-bin, she and Dong-man stop to eat at Coach Hwang’s soondae truck. She confesses she wants someone sweet and forward, and Moo-bin just appears at the right time.
–
Ae-ra looks into announcing school, where she is told that she should take the premium classes, where one of the teachers is Hye-ran.
After the interview at school, Moo-bin picks up Ae-ra for their first date. He seems to know Hye-ran, so Ae-ra asks Moo-bin if he’s a fan of Hye-ran. Yet he says that Hye-ran is a VIP at his father’s hospital. He then stares at Hye-ran’s face, then says that “it” is healing well while pointing at his own nose.
–
Dong-man’s enemy, Tak-soo, reads an article from a gossip magazine about the Brazilian jujitsu fighter (the one they hired to fight Dong-man) was recently in Korea. It is speculated that Tak-soo was involved in the Brazilian’s fight with Dong-man.
Tak-soo tells his manager Tae-hee to sue the magazine. But Tae-hee says they can’t sue them when it is the truth, and the best thing to do is to find a bigger story to overshadow this one.
–
Before their date, Moo-bin stops by his hospital, explaining that the chief director is visiting from Japan so he needs to quickly greet him. She waits inside the hospital, and meets the two guys whose cars she destroyed after the wedding. They offer Ae-ra their apologies, and say that they should make up since they will meet Ae-ra as Moo-bin’s partner at the hospital event tomorrow. Yet, Ae-ra doesn’t know about the event.
–
That evening, Dong-man helps Coach Hwang with the soondae truck. He calls Ae-ra to ask her where the salt is that he lent her last year as an excuse to interrupt her date.
Ae-ra tells Dong-man that they’re at the drive-in. Dong-man is thinking about all the things couple do at drive-ins that makes him panic. Dong-man looks up drive-ins online and drives to the drive-in using the soondae truck to “rescue” Ae-ra. Yet, Dong-man is spotted by the security guard at the drive-in, allowing Moo-bin to sneak away.
–
Dong-man met Hye-ran on the ride home. She waits outside his building with groceries to cook him dinner. He tells her that he does not like carbonara she’s planning to make—he only ate it because she liked it, emphasizing that there’s a lot she doesn’t know about him.
Moo-bin drops off Ae-ra near her home, and Dong-man watches Moo-bin helps Ae-ra out of the car. Moo-bin presents Ae-ra with a new pair of heels, saying that it symbolizes that they’re officially dating.
Moo-bin angrily tells Dong-man to respect Ae-ra’s boundaries, but Dong-man counters that he’s not just any old guy friend to Ae-ra but her protector.
Moo-bin ignores a call from someone saved in his phone as “Chief,” which Ae-ra notes that he’s done several times tonight. She says he should go if it’s work, and he starts to say something about tomorrow but stops himself.
Later Dong-man sends Ae-ra a text explaining that Hye-ran was waiting for him, anxious for her to understand that he didn’t call Hye-ran first. Ae-ra calls him back to confront him about his weird behavior tonight, but she hangs up when he just rambles.
–
Another present from Moo-bin with the shoes is a memory book, which is about the cute little stories that happened since they met. Seol-hee says that this is the sort of guy Ae-ra should be dating, a guy who likes her more than she likes him.
–
At work, Joo-man’s boss tells him that the family of a kimchi brand specifically chose him to be their launching manager. He and Seol-hee jump and squeal over his good fortune. Seol-hee is sure that this will mean a promotion if all goes well.
–
Ae-ra decided to go to Moo-bin’s hospital event. She gets dressed up and wears the heels he bought for her.
–
The woman stomps over to scream at Coach Hwang for setting up his soondae truck in front of her family’s restaurant. She and Dong-man stare at each other, then he suddenly recognizes her—it’s Bo-ram, his old girlfriend and former school beauty, now looking frumpy.
–
Ae-ra arrives at Moo-bin’s event and waits for him outside. She sees him accompanied by a pretty woman. Ae-ra stops him and the other woman asks who she is in Japanese. Moo-bin answers that she’s just a patient of his. Ae-ra sees that the paper in his hand is a wedding invitation—for Moo-bin and this woman.
Moo-bin insists that his feelings for her are real, and that everything he said about her being a goddess was sincere. But he was not planning on calling off the engagement, nor did he have planning on breaking up with Ae-ra, because even after he’s married, he can still focus on her whenever he is in Korea.
Moo-bin promises to do everything he can to make her feel like a princess. He says that this is why he asked her to go on ten dates with him, which now feels to Ae-ra like pure manipulation.
–
Meanwhile, Dong-man and Bo-ram catch up, and she reminds him that she had been dating Moo-bin at that time, since he would become a doctor and she only dates the best. Moo-bin knew that Dong-man had a job pumping gas, so he stopped by his station to show Bo-ram how far the guy she liked in high school had fallen. Bo-ram had realized that Moo-bin was only dating her so he could feel superior to Dong-man.
–
Moo-bin confesses to Ae-ra that he’s annoyed that Dong-man is always happy even though he has nothing. Ae-ra argues that no matter how Dong-man acts, he’s better than a piece of trash like Moo-bin. She kicks off the shoes he gave her, saying that Cinderella stories aren’t popular anymore, because the world is filled with dumb but hardworking women who can succeed on their own. Ae-ra walks away barefoot, declining a call from Dong-man.
Dong-man races to find Ae-ra, thinking of what Bo-ram told him: that Moo-bin was trash to the end, and even sent her a wedding invitation out of spite. When he finally finds her, he demands that she take him to Moo-bin so he can beat him up. But Ae-ra is exhausted so she asks him to just sit with her.
Dong-man inspects her carefully, making sure that she was not hit, but she says that she just yelled at Moo-bin then left. Dong-asks why she is shivering and upset, then he kicks off his own shoes for her to wear.
Ae-ra says that Moo-bin looking down on her doesn’t make her pathetic, as long as she doesn’t think of herself that way. But when Dong-man gets angry again she starts to cry for real.
Dong-man takes off his sweatshirt and covers Ae-ra’s face, which allows her to cry without anyone seeing her. He hugs her to his chest. But she tells him to stop doing things like this. He yells back for her to stop making him angry: “Stop running around and making me crazy! Just stay holed up in your house! Or don’t date any guys!”
She asks him to stay out of her love life, but Dong-man counters that he wouldn’t have to get involved if she didn’t keep messing it up. This episode ends with Ae-ra’s confess.
“I’m saying you make my heart flutter!”
“My heart flutters every time you do that. It flutters—there’s something wrong with me”.
Making us wonder what will happen next.
