About the talk

Who’s Disclosing? The Influence of Mental Illness Disclosure on Stigma Mitigation in Hiring

Stigma is a significant obstacle that job candidates with mental illness face during the hiring process. Job candidates can strategically disclose their mental illness to combat stigma. In this talk, I will describe my research examining why job candidates with mental illness disclose during the hiring process, and the consequences of them doing so.

About the presenter

Dr. Brent Lyons is an Associate Professor of Organization Studies at the Schulich School of Business at York University. His research involves the study of stigma and its consequences for the work, careers, and well-being of members of nondominant social groups, such as disabled employees.
