The dissemination of false information, either without deliberate intent (misinformation) or with malicious intention (disinformation), is a growing global issue. Behavioural science shows promise as one tool to address this issue by promoting, for example, proactive news engagement and more discerning information consumption and sharing decisions. The UN and member states have launched several initiatives, leveraging behavioural science at regional and global levels to respond to false information which will be discussed in this session.

Panelists contributed to the new UN brief on behavioural science and mis/disinformation produced in collaboration with UN Entities, member states and academics – check it out!
