The Final Countdown

It’s the final countdown!!!! The term is over! Exams are approaching!  Spring is nipping at our heels!  The promise of those lazy, hazy, crazy days of summer is coming into realization!

Now lets take a look back 🙂

Over this term I had the privilege and pleasure of working with these four fantastic individuals: Amanda, Douglas, Mark, and Zoe.

Together we trekked through three projects in our analysis of Shell Canada.  The importance of teamwork should never be undervalued.  Having five minds working towards a common goal creates a product that far surpass the work of any single individual.

I learned the importance of listening to others’ input, and learned to take these ideas and amalgamate them into a cohesive idea.  I also grew to see the importance of conflict.  By having constructive conflict, the result will be far superior than that of a passively completed project.

Our group met many conflicts, especially when it came to the final project.  Our team was composed of five intellectual students, who all had different creative directions when it came to the video project.  However, we were able to work through pros and cons of our multiple views to come to our final completed product which I believe was greatly improved by our conflict resolution.

This project really allowed me to apply the concepts that we learned about in class.  Having an idea presented to you is all well and good, but actually sitting down and analyzing Shell with the tools we were given in class gave me a deeper understanding of topics discussed.

This project also taught me about the importance of space.  And       using                  space                          efficiently

and

effectively.                    because

page limits                                                         are         no

laughing matter.

When writing an analysis, or when giving recommendations.  People want the important information.  They want to know what they need to know.  This project forced me to employ editing techniques to slim down our two written reports so that they presented the relevant information in the space provided.

All in all, it was a great semester, and I had a blast in my first marketing course!

I give this experience TWO THUMBS UP!!!
