Recently, we’ve made some changes to the Brock Hall 2nd floor reception, so that the reception desk no longer needs to be staffed.

And yes, that includes the installation of a fancy-schmancy new phone (details below) and the retirement of the much-beloved doorbell and intercom.

Temporary signage is now posted on the reception door to direct visitors appropriately. Official signage is currently being created by Student Communications Services.

Visitors

As mentioned above, a phone has now been installed outside the 2nd floor reception door for visitor use.

A short directory of room numbers (not names) and associated phone numbers for Senior Managers located within the secure area is posted. Individuals arriving for a meeting are directed to dial the phone number for the room where their meeting is located.

If you are organizing a meeting within the secure area, please include the Meeting Request Template that was included in the recent email to you regarding these changes and/or contact details/instructions as appropriate.

If you are located within the secure area and you are expecting a visitor informally, please feel free to send them the Meeting Request Template or otherwise inform them of the procedure. Please be available to receive their phone call and let them in when they arrive.

Please note that the phone does not have a “buzz-in” function like for an apartment intercom. Meeting organizers must let their visitors in once they receive a call. The phone is identified on your call display as “Reception Door.”

Couriers

Couriers are now being directed to deliver packages to the Basement Mail Room (RM 0006), where either Bing Wong or Susan Mah will sign for packages.

(A system is currently being developed for receiving courier packages if either Bing or Susan are away at the same time.)

Students/Presentation Centre/Room 2001

Signage is in place to direct:

  • Students to visit an ESP at the ESP Desk on the main floor
  • Visitors to the Presentation Centre
  • Meeting attendees to Room 2001
