Today’s teens spend a significant amount of their time on TikTok, a mobile platform known for its short, engaging videos. For many, TikTok is a platform for entertainment, social connection, information sharing, and self-expression. Whether they’re sharing stories about their lives, reviewing products, watching news clips, participating in dance trends, or attempting DIY projects, the app has established a presence in 70% of Canadian teens’ lives (Barbic, n.d.). Though beyond its recreational use, TikTok offers powerful opportunities for microlearning, independent and collaborative learning, and student engagement if utilized thoughtfully in educational contexts.
