Activity #1) Twerminology exploration

Twitter has a unique set of expressions or Twerminology associated with it. Some of these might be familiar to you and some of them might not. The most important terms have been identified below. Some of the fun and unique expressions that have evolved around twitter are seen in the prezi. As you proceed with the prezi try to infer the meaning of the word from the pictures provided.

Some very important terms

Tweet– An update on the twitter service that uses the 140 characters to provide a short “chirp” of information

Hashtag – (e.g. #science or #education) Any word proceeded by the number symbol (#) within twitter that creates a collection of organized tweets around a topic of interest.

Microblog – a short and concise blogpost that usually contains a quick update or burst if information.

Retweet – the action of forwarding a post that you have found or someone has sent to you. It is accomplished by clicking on the retweet link available at the bottom of the tweet you have found interesting. Or alternatively by creating a tweet that includes RT@[here’s where you put the person’s tweet ID]
