Twit-tivity 4

Activity #4) Guest Speaker

Good Morning class,

We don’t really have access to any guest speakers unfortunately. Everyone just seems to be to busy! However, it doesn’t take that much time to tweet does it? And given the amazing number of scientists available to follow on twitter we can easily imagine what these individuals would come in to say to us by following their accounts for two weeks. Your task is to choose a scientist from the list below (or one approved by your teacher) and start to review their Twitter chatter. There is also an incredible number of amazing scientists that you can find through common search engines. Including Canadian astronaut Chris Hadfield (@Cmdr_Hadfield  ) and Stephen Hawkings (@Prof_S_Hawking) Please do not go back further then six months into their tweets.

As you begin to document their lives by retweeting the posts you find most engaging,  it is important to develop a sense of what contributions this chosen individual is making to the world of science.

At the end of the two weeks, you will use the information that you have gleaned and create a mock presentation for the class from the scientist. Please be sure to include in your presentation…

♦ The main topic of your scientist’s presentation

♦ Relevant details from their life over the last two weeks

♦ Questions that you believe they may like to be asked from a student – and include answers.

♦ Information that is pertinent and interesting regarding how they are involved in science
