Activity #3) Virtual Field trip

Good Morning class,

It’s an exciting day for the Biology 11 students at Mt. Can’t-believe-this-is-school Secondary as we are attending a virtual field trip together to the Smithsonian National Zoological Park. An incredible 2000 animals consider this park their home away from home. And the site offers 20 different webcams for public viewing of the 400 species residing inside. The webcams can be accessed on the link below.

Smithsonian Zoo Webcams

Your task is to visit five of these webcams and tweet your way through the park by posting to our previously agreed upon hashtag #Bi11_KP_zoovisit. The comment collection that we create with this hashtag will be viewed and shared with two other schools that are also attending the e-fieldtrip. A minimum of five tweets is expected from each individual up to a maximum of ten tweets. Your tweet can and should include an interesting and intelligent observation about the animals seen on the webcam. If possible, make reference to any previous understanding that you have developed about the organism that you are watching – citing for example

♦ observations about physiological/behavioral/physical adaptations
♦ information about the habitat or habits of the organism
♦ reference to related species
♦ comments on taxonomy (species/class/kingdom/order)
