Poster Competition

Poster Competition

The Department of French, Hispanic, and Italian Studies announces:

A Graduate Student Poster Competition

In connection with the 2021 Graduate Student symposium, the Department of French, Hispanic, and Italian Studies is pleased to offer a “two prizes of $150 each for the best student research posters presented.”

This competition is open to all graduate students in the department, whether MA or PhD, even those, who are done with coursework, who will be also giving a 20-minute presentation of their work in progress. It is also open to those who may in addition be submitting a short video introduction to their research interests.

Though both the content and the format of the poster are up to you, we suggest that you could use it to outline an MA or PhD thesis or chapter, your ideas for such a thesis, or as a way to present (say) a paper that you have written for a graduate course.

  1. Posters should be at a standard size such as 42” x 48”. All formats are welcome, but we would appreciate PDF and or a a single PowerPoint slide, to be submitted via email to Johann and/or Ricardo by midnight on April 10th
  2. You will have five minutes to present your posters during the colloquium (provisionally, these presentations are scheduled to be immediately after lunch)
  3. The two prizewinners will be determined by FHIS faculty and awarded at the end of the day. The two winners will also receive a certificate from the department.

*Note that this year we are not printing posters but we are preparing a “virtual gallery” for the posters to be showed.

If you have any questions, do not hesitate to be in touch.
