State Detection
Using statistical and machine learning methods, this stream of research aims to use acoustic and articulatory information to distinguish the mental and physical states of a speaker. For example, acoustic information can be used to distinguish long-term cognitive changes, such as those observed in neurological disease, or short-term cognitive changes, such as those observed during intoxication to substances such as cannabis.
