Ag & Food Major Career Fair for Students

AgCareers.com and CareersinFood.com have announced the Feed Your Future campaign. This new initiative will support the awareness of career opportunities in the agriculture and food industries through a series of regional virtual events across Canada and the United States.

The Feed Your Future Canadian All Ag & Food Major Virtual Career Fair is specifically for students looking to pursue a summer experience/internship or first full-time career in agriculture and food.  

This event is scheduled for Thursday, January 28, 2021, from 9:00-4:30 Central. Some of the employers in attendance include CLAAS, Cargill, National Bank of Canada, HyLife and more.

Contract IPM Field Technician Work Position with E.S. Cropconsult

Integrated pest management technicians work in a team to collect pest (insect, mite, disease, and weed) information that is used to help growers achieve more effective pest control. Positions involve working outdoors in all weather conditions in co-operation with a team of other technicians and supervisors. The position involves extensive driving throughout the Fraser Valley and Metro Vancouver.

Start dates: Range between April 1, and May 18, 2021 depending on candidates availability.

E.S. Cropconsult will promote at least 1 field technician to a permanent position in 2021. This individual would begin work as a field technician, and receive a promotion with salary increase to an Assistant Supervisor during summer 2021. This promotion would also entail an increase in job responsibilities.

Student Work Opportunity at the Dairy Education and Research Centre in Agassiz

The University of B.C. Dairy Education and Research Centre is located in Agassiz, 130 km east of the UBC Point Grey Campus.  The farm is required to operate on a financially self-sustaining basis.  In addition to its operation as a fully functioning dairy (milk) production enterprise, the Centre plays a unique role as a centre for research, teaching, and technology transfer relating to dairy and forage production, agronomic crops and practices, and soils.  These activities involve active participation by faculty members and students from U.B.C. and other universities, government specialists, industry groups, and individuals.

Two work positions for Summer 2021 are available. In this position, you would be assisting the farm staff in all duties relating to the dairy herd.  Due to the nature of the position, some scheduling of duties on weekends and holidays is anticipated.  In addition, the time required to perform the duties of the position is expected to vary from day to day.
