Mission Statement (Exit Slip)

My mission is to be the best teacher that I can be, I know this to be true, in my heart, because I am here by choice and can and will leave when it suits my purpose. I do not teach due a lack of options or simply for the pay check I teach for the sake of teaching…..

This being said my mission statement would begin with…..

1. Passion, love of the subject and interaction with students. If teaching were a drug then the high I seek is the light in a students eye and acknowledgement that I care received at the end of class. I need to know they get something from me or there is no point

2. Dedication and hardwork. Be prepared, first and foremost, nothing is worse than a teacher who is not prepared

3. Take the time (to bond). I do not take (make) the time needed, but try to make the time I have work. I will not stray from the subject and will sacrifice the bond if need be, but as it is important it forces me to be efficient so I can have the (few) moments I have.

4. Fear, I am scared for the ones who fall thru the system and don’t get it (academic: one-fit-for-all), but I don’t know what to do…just try

5. To understand the system so as to be efficient within it and not to beat myself up against it (the rock).

6. To never give up or accept. Change is inevitable and everything can be better, I do not understand people with comfort zones and who are confrontational to new ideas and ways primarily as a function of the quality of their life with no regard to the greater good. So many times I want to shut up, but can’t. I hope that never changes.

7. Empower. Students need to know that I or any one like me is the end all or know all to their existence. They need to question everything, think for themselves, act on their thoughts, e accountable for their actions
