2015 –> Participated in the parent teacher conferences and aided lost parents in navigating their children’s timetables.

 

  • David Thompson: Pro-D Day Event

2015 –> Attended BCBEA (PSA) Biztech Conference held at David Thompson Secondary. The conference included many Business, Planning, and Technology workshops. Robert Levy was the keynote for the conference, managing director for border gold, who shared his thoughts on the economy and other important stories from around the world.

 

  • Gladstone Secondary: Pro-D Day Event

2015 –> Attended an “Engaging the Brain” seminar with Terry Small. Topics revolved around the science of the brain and ways to boost brain power.

 

  • Gladstone Secondary: Terry Fox Run

2015 –> Participated in the Terry-Fox Run at Gladstone Secondary.

 

  • EEPSA (Environmental Educators’ Provincial Specialist Association) Event

2015 –> Volunteered to run a table for the “Crazy Boggers” under supervision of Susan Ng for an EEPSA event.

 

  • Gladstone Secondary: Jr Scientist Program

2015 –> Involved with the Jr scientist program that strengthens community ties. The science department at Gladstone Secondary reached out to the community and offered the elementary school population a day of fun revolving around scientific inquiry.

 

  • Nootka Elementary: Pro-D Day Event

2015 –> Participated in a critical de-structuring of the multicultural model currently used. Dealt with the pros and cons of the multicultural model and its evolution.

2015 –> Aided with the running of the badminton club.

 

  • Gladstone Secondary: Human Library

2015 –> Participated in Gladstone Secondary’s Rendition of the Human Library (Science theme). Helped with the organization of the event, the recruiting of participants, and participated in the event. A Human Book is a person that has chosen to be a public representative of a certain group. The purpose is to build career awareness while reducing stereotypes.

 

  • Gladstone Secondary: Soil Sale

2015 –> Involved with the soil sale and its curriculum interpretation. The soil sale is the end result of a semester long project that involves students growing and nurturing plants from seeds to young adults and then selling those plants at a fundraising event. The soil sale integrates the school’s greenhouse and garden into the science curriculum.

 

  • Gladstone Secondary: Science Department Chemical Storage Rooms

2015 –> Reorganized the chemical storage rooms of the school according to the new safety standards; Flinn and Ward Hazardous Chemical Storage systems.

 

  • Gladstone Secondary: Grad Potluck Movie Night

2015 –> Attended (chaperoned) the event.

 

  • Nootka Elementary: Year-End Summer Carnival

2015 –> Aided with the running of the carnival. Worked at various stations: the obstacle course, bouncy castles, BBQ pit and prize table.

 

  • Gladstone Secondary: Dance Competition

2015 –> Aided with the final exam (competition) for the Gladstone Secondary dance students.

 

  • Gladstone Secondary: Drama Club/ Comedic Events

2015 –> Attended a variety of drama club events. Each event had several rehearsals and performance nights. Events: Improve is the New Black Series and Scandalous Series.

2015 –> Attended the school’s cabaret show, spring concert, winter concert and year end evening concert.

2015 –> Helped the school host the Scholastic book fair.

2015 –> Aided teachers with their field trips. Physics 11/12 PNE Physicist Contest, Biology 11 Vancouver Aquarium field trip, Forensic Science 11/12 crime scene lab investigation field trip.

2015 –> Helped host the Adrenaline Dance Competition at Gladstone Secondary.

 

  • Nootka Elementary: Pro-D Day Event

2015 –> Attended Professional Development Day @ Nootka Elementary regarding the new curriculum. Teachers talked about the new curriculum and their vision regarding its implementation; possible curriculum directions taken by both individual teachers and the school as a whole. (Host: Monica Snaft).

2015 –> Attended Professional Development Day @ Gladstone Secondary regarding the use of the school greenhouse and garden. Teachers in the school talked about how to better use the greenhouse and garden in the curriculum (departmental projects and cross-curricular) and how it can be used to create community/school spirit (soil sale; farmers market) (Host: Fergus William McCallion).

2015 –> Attended Professional Development Day @ Gladstone Secondary regarding technology. Teachers in the school talked about types of existing technology, new technology, usage in the classroom, types of tech projects and the SAMR model for technology integration. Also the school infrastructure, future infrastructure projects were discussed and the tech support required (Host: Klaus Hardy Breslauer).

2014 – 2015 –> Aided in the daily operations and maintenance of the library.

2014 –> Attended Professional Development Day @ Gladstone Secondary regarding Digital awareness, digital tattoos and the cyber-bullying. Teachers at Gladstone discussed types and ways to use technology in the classroom, the technology infrastructure needs of the school. Teachers also continued to work on formalizing (explicit) the technology policy of the school. Until now most issues are implicit and cause confusion/contradiction. Lastly, teachers talked about Digital Tattoos and Cyberbullying in the school and curriculum (Applied skills 8/9 and Planning 10). All matters revolved around teacher, student and parental awareness (Host: Chriss Wong).

2014 –> Attended Professional Development Day @ Gladstone Secondary regarding the library learning commons and inquiry. Teacher Librarians in the VSB attended and talked about matters relating to the directions taken by their schools with regards to their learning commons and the VSB Inquiry project (Host: Pat Parnugao).

 

  • Gladstone Secondary: Field Trip Reconnaissance

2014 –> Helped the Science department out in developing a field trip for the junior sciences that involved students going to Trout Lake and learning about its Bog heritage.

 

  • David Thompson Secondary School: Library (Support Staff)

2014 –> Worked in the library.

 

  • David Thompson Secondary: ELL/EAL/ESL Club (Teacher Supervisor)

2014 –> Helped the newly landed students of David Thompson with their acculturation process by donating my time in the English Language Learners (ELL/ESL) Homework and Conversation Club.

 

  • David Thompson Secondary School: Homework Club (Teacher Supervisor)

2014 –> Helped the students of David Thompson after-school in the resource center as a member of the Homework Club.

 

  • David Thompson Secondary School: Arts Week Event/Festival (Supervisor)

2014 –> Helped setting up and supervising events at David Thompson’s Art Week Event. Events were spread out through the week both during school hours and in the evening for family to attend. Arts week showcased many of the students talents (Sewing, Cooking, Art, Drama, Band, Singing, Visual Computer Aided Ats, and more).

 

  • UBC discovery Excursion: Evaluating potential field trips

2014 –> During the 2014 school year spring break UBC students visited a variety of possible field trip locals that could be used in the sciences. Seven locations were visited: Science World, Vancouver Aquarium, Van Dusen Gardens, Green Timber Urban Forest, UBC Botanical Garden, UBC Beaty Biodiversity Museum, Richmond Nature Park (Bog). The purpose of the trip was to learn how to evaluate the potential behind the site and to create appropriate lesson plans.

 

  • David Thompson Secondary School: Pro-D Day Event (Host)

2014 –> Hosted Professional Development Day @ David Thompson Secondary for the business department. Business teachers in the VSB attended and talked about matters relating to the directions taken by their schools with regards to their business departments and the current/future curriculum (Host: Peter Noah).

2014 –> Helped with the supervision of a set of Communication 11 classes field trip to Rogers Arena (Understanding business models).

2014 –> supervised the weight room after-school, kept it open so students can use it.

2010-2012 –> Assistant coordinator and participator in the Dragon Boat events during my stay in Taiwan 2010-2012. Represented my university NCCU.

 

  • National ChengChi University (NCCU) IMBA Program (Tutor)

2012 –> Volunteer tutor for a variety of courses taught at National ChengChi University (NCCU) in Taiwan. Organized a variety of review classes.

 

  • Ping Dong (Pai-Wan) Elementary School: Summer Camp (Teacher)

2012 –> English Summer Camp Teacher at a rural impoverished elementary school in Ping Dong (Pai-Wan) Taiwan (美和科技大學東區).

 

  • Earth Day Network: Event (Participator)

2012 –> NCCU IMBA (Earth Day Campaign); I was a participator in the NCCU Keep Your Campus Clean Event that was part of the Earth Day Campaign.

2010 –> Host for international guests/participants (富邦2010台北馬拉松志工 Fubon 2010 Marathon Participator).
2011 –> Fubon Marathon 2011 Running Participant (富邦北馬拉松志工) for donations. Represented my university NCCU.

 

  • National ChengChi University (NCCU) IMBA Program: Charity Event (Support Worker)

2011 –> Disaster and Humanitarian Relief; I was a participant in a Thailand Flood Relief Charity, Bazaar and Networking Mixer that was put on by NCCU IMBA students (跨越國際送關懷 IMBA為泰國水患募款). The purpose was to raise money and awareness of the situation in Thailand.

 

  • National ChengChi University (NCCU) IMBA Program: Charity Event (Canvasser)

2011 –> Disaster and Humanitarian Relief; The NCCU IMBA student council put together a Japan Relief Fund. The purpose was to raise money and awareness of the nuclear disaster that took place in Japan. The Fukushima Daiichi nuclear disaster (福島第一原子力発電所事故).


  • Taiwan Orphan Welfare Foundation: Event (Support Worker)

2011 –> NCCU IMBA took part in some events put on by the Taiwan Orphan Welfare Foundation (財團法人台北市失親兒福利基金會). The Orphanage Olympics was a sports day like event where children participated in a variety of events for glory. I assisted at a variety of different stands around the event.

 

  • ZhongYi Orphanage Society: Event (Guidance Counsellor)

2011 –> NCCU IMBA took part in some events put on by the ZhongYi Orphanage Society (忠義社會福利事業基金會). In this “Amusement Park Outing” event, NCCU IMBA students volunteered their time and money and took a group of orphans to an amusement park for the day. All expenses (transportation, admission and food) were paid for by the NCCU volunteers.

 

  • National ChengChi University (NCCU): Event (Support Worker)

2011 –> Acted as a host at NCCU’s International Student Exchange Day. For this event we would meet and greet new international students at the campus. The point of this event was to network, share experiences, show our guests around the campus and act as a go to liaison (buddy) during their integration into life on campus.

 

  • PingLin Elementary School: Winter Camp (Teacher)

2010 –> PingLin Weekend Winter Camp (English Course Teaching). I was a teacher during this 5 day winter camp experience at Pinglin Elementary schoool in Taipei County Taiwan.

 

  • Earth Day Network: Event (Organizer/ Support Worker)

2011 –> Assisted in the coordination of a series of “No More Trash Events” around Taiwan. The purpose of the events was to raise awareness of litter/trash. Litter is a serous problem in many areas of Taiwan. We would take volunteers to specific places that were typically dirty and clean them up (night markets, beaches public events like fireworks) and set up stands in visible public.

2011 –> IMBA River Appreciation Day. NCCU students got together and over a weekend cleaned up the litter that lined the river that flows through campus.
