What does it mean to be educated?
When i think of on an educated man i don’t necessarily believe that he or she need be educated in a formal setting. Life education is equally important. An educated person has is both grounded in the general and specific; has a broad understanding of the world and a specific set of skills unique to them.
When i think of an educated man i think of a quote by Elanor Roosevelt who classifies people based on their type of discourse. She views an educated man as a man who primarily discusses and is involved with ideas. Has an understanding and is involved in news and events of the day but does not talk about people.
To me an educated man is knowledgeable about something and can readily apply that knowledge in a practical or useful way; by either application to a job or social situation in which his contributions are intended to further society in someway he deems fit.
An educated man is a man of opinion and may even be firm in his beliefs, but able to see the value in the words of others that do not necessarily conform to his own.
An educated man is a man of experience that has an ability to resolve problems and situations by a rational means and has a calm demeanor about himself.
An educated man is person who believes in life long learning and continual self improvement.
This is what it means to be educated to me?
