Hello from Hong Kong!
So I’m writing to say that I’m going through something weird.
I thought that, upon arriving back at my house in Hong Kong, I’d be overwhelmed with a feeling of ‘oh my god, I’m home’.
Instead, it felt more like an ‘ah, I’m home’ – almost as if I was just returning home from school and that I’d never left. Of course I was really happy to see my family and pets again, don’t get me wrong, but other than that, I wasn’t all that excited.
In the 3 and a bit months that I was there, UBC slowly, without my knowing, started to make itself my home. Or home number 2, since I still consider Hong Kong ‘home’ as well.
I’m happy to be back. The weather’s beautiful, the food is good, I’m used to the ways of doing things here, and I’m with my family. Maybe it’s because I haven’t seen my friends yet, or really been out doing much, but it feels like something’s missing. I definitely miss my friends back home (home #2 – UBC) so maybe that’s why.
Anyway, I’ve got a busy few weeks ahead, and many things to look forward to, so hopefully this weird feeling will go away soon.
See you,
Tanya ♡
