Duolingo is a free website and mobile phone app which is designed to help users learn foreign languages. The website offers learning support for multiple languages. It contains a variety of activities such as multiple choice questions, and sentence building games. In addition to exposing students to the correct spelling of words, the app also sounds them out for students to hear as they are progressing through the activities. Duolingo is an example of how technology can support the learning of Core French in the classroom because it provides an opportunity for students to engage further with the vocabulary they learn in the classroom. A program such as this is crucial to supporting those students who find it difficult to keep up in class because it allows them to learn at their own pace. Due to reasons of student privacy, it is worth noting that the service encourages users to create an account in order for them to track their progress. However, the learning resources can also be accessed without any registration.
