The differences of cngenital talents between children and adults decide the divergence of their English  learning methods. As for children, their memory is much better than adults’; therefore, they can remember more words and use less energy in a limited time than adults. According an experiment made by Tsinghua university, children can remember 30 words per 10 mins on average, which is twice than adults’. Despite this, adults still have their own adventages to learn English,   because their abilities of practice are higher than children. For example, they know how to use the words appropriately and they always try to find chances to use them. Therefore, although they can only remember 1/2 words of children’s in a limited time, they can remember them efficiently. Firstly, In the aspect of reading books, children pay more attention to the visual image, while adults would prefer to acquire literature knowledge. It is obvious that in children’s books, there are lots of pictures with abundant colors, which can attract children’s attention and arouse their interests.

Secondly, for remembering English, children are able to remember it by reading aloud or playing games. However, for adults, they are used to figuring out the grammar used or sentences meaning in order to strengthen their awareness of English.

Thirdly, the ability for adults or children to learn English is quite different. Due to the lack of language experience, children are able to accept new knowledge easily. Though, for adults, If the English is the second Language for them, they will always remind of their first language. Thus, It is more likely for adults to mix them up.

Therefore, the main differences are dependent on their abilities to learn, the ways to memorize English as well as the methods to master new language.

We find a lot of differences of learning English between children and adults today. First, children regard learning English as entertainment, it’s fresh and interesting to read a “wired” pronunciation. They are curious about a new language and have passion toward it. As for adults, learning English is just a mission for them which makes them feel under too much pressure. They are not willing to know deeper about it. Secondly, children have better memory to learn vocabulary, but it’s a big problem for adults to spend a lot of time on remembering new words. Children are not embarrassed to speak aloud in front of people or speak to foreigners. On the opposite, sometimes it’s awkward for adults to speak English because they are always concerned that other people would laugh at them. However, adults are more logical to learn grammar, structure and they have critical thinking to learn English. To sum up, children and adults have their own advantages and disadvantages to learn a new language.
