Final Exam Information

The Final Exam will be held in 355-203 on Monday, December 10th from 6-9 PM.  The exam is cumulative but focuses primarily on the last three chapters of the textbook.  The exam will cover the following grammar points:

 

Vocabulary

Adjectives, Gender and Number

Regular and irregular verbs, tener expressions, possessives and questions

Ser and Estar

Irregular First Person Verbs

Stem  Changing Verbs E-IE

Ir a as future tense and expressions of obligation

Comparatives and Superlatives

Saber vs. Conocer

Contractions and the Personal A

The format will be similar to Ana Maria’s midterms, with a listening/writing section at the beginning, followed by grammar section and a section for writing as well as a bonus section.

Proyecto 2

 

Hola chicos

This proyecto is primarily a writing exercise but also incorporates some of the grammar and reading work from Chapter 4 as well as some listening.  Please e-mail me your answers in a word doc or PDF by Monday the 26th (Barbara.fraser@viu.ca)  Note: When you save your file, please use your first name as your filename.  This will make it easier for me to download them.

Examen Parcial

The midterm exam will cover Chapters 2 and 3, with a greater focus on Chapter 3. There will be three general sections

 

  1. Listening: You will be provided with some questions or phrases dictated in Spanish and will need to copy them down and answer them
  2. Grammar: You will be provided with a series of short answer questions discussing the grammar of Chapters 2 and 3, grammar points include -AR, -ER and -IR Regular Verbs, Irregular Verbs Tener and Venir, Tener Expressions, Expressing obligation (deber, tener que or necesitar)  Possessive adjectives and pronouns, possession with “cosa de persona”, and demonstrative adjectives and pronouns.
  3. Composicion: You will be asked to write a short paragraph, these topics generally come from the text and will include things like chores, school work, hobbies etc.

The midterm will be held on November 7th and will take up the whole class.

The first Proyecto we are going to do is a reading of a story in Spanish along with some questions for comprehension and a writing assignment.  I am including here a link to a Word document with the story in it.  I am also including a PDF version of the same worksheet in case the MSWord document doesn’t open
