Allard Beavers Rugby Club

The Allard Beavers RFC is one of Allard’s oldest and largest clubs. Last year, the rugby team had about 50 team members ranging from 1L to 3L. The Allard Beavers RFC is a club that plays rugby games, host a wide ranging of team social events, and organizes many school wide parties throughout the year.

There is NO EXPERIENCE NECESSARY; the majority of club members learnt to play rugby in 1L, and only 5 current players had previously tried rugby before Law School. Last year, the club organized the Annual Back to School Party, and the Annual Halloween Howler. In terms of rugby, the Beavers play full contact games against other Law Schools in Western Canada. Each season, the Beavers play in ONE Fall semester tournament which will be hosted in Kamloops this season, and ONE game against UVIC Law in the Fall season. There are practices held roughly once a week for the four weeks before a game.

Without Fall Term Classes, the Beavers will continue to promote the primary aspect of the club: to create strong friendships between ALL YEARS of students at Allard. The Beavers plan to continue hosting social events to foster these relationships in the Fall Term, in creative ways, and in line with guidelines provided by health authorities. The Rugby Tournaments, and games will most likely both be played in the Spring Semester this year.

The Beavers are primarily a Men’s Rugby club, however, we have a close relationship with the Allard Badgers. The Badgers are a women’s rugby club that plays touch rugby in the same tournaments as the Beavers. Both clubs travel together and plan events together. However, in the past, women have played for the Beavers RFC and against the team as well.
