Reminder: Call for Behavioural Insights Capstone Projects (due Jul 31)

UBC-DIBS is soliciting pitches for potential capstone projects for the 2025-2026 academic year. Have an idea? Share by July 31 […]

Each year our students in the Advanced Professional Certificate in Behavioural Insights program complete a capstone project in partnership with an organization facing a challenge involving human behaviour. Past project topics have varied, but the common thread is that there is an opportunity to use behavioural science to make a positive difference for individuals, communities or organizations, and/or the planet. Previous examples include:

  • Shifting customers from paper to online communications [watch an overview]
  • Supporting injured workers in their return to work [see a poster about project #1 or #2]
  • Encouraging proper parking [read a working paper about project #1 or #2]
  • Encouraging sustainable food choices [watch an overview]
  • Supporting employees in following best practices [see a poster]
  • Encouraging uptake of various programs

Projects are completed over the course of 9 months. Working professional students work in teams of 3-4 to scope the problem, conduct exploratory research (including lit reviews, surveys, and analysis of existing data), design a behaviourally-informed solution and program of evaluation, trial the solution and collect data, analyze the data, and share evidence-based recommendations.

Do you have a lead on a potential capstone project for 2025-2026? Or know someone who does? Review the pitch doc for more information and to share potential project ideas.

Pitches are due July 31. Program faculty will meet with potential project sponsors in August to help shape ideas before the start of the next cohort.
