In the article, Microsoft focus more on the component of a team rather than the form of a team. It believes number of team members should be restricted and minimized. A huge team with many people affects the flexibility of the team. I think that if the number of people fills to capacity, the communication and understanding between team members becomes complex, arguments and interpersonal conflicts appear.

In my perspective, if a team is formed by people with unique skills, the success is easily achieved. A team provides flexibility to work because team members share the same task and people are no longer restricted to area that they are poor at. In a team, each person requires leadership that balances the team and ensures the outcomes of the team are effective.

My COMM 101’s team behavior can be explained by the Five-Stage Model. Along with the development of the group form, the whole team analyze questions deeper and further. Each member’s personal skills cooperate better and the team becomes more effective. My COMM 101 team consists people from different places. During our first meet, after we got familiar with each one’s personal characteristics we then quickly clarified what each person is strong at or poor at. Then we put each person into corresponding position in group like communicator or initiator. After the specific task is assigned, we not only do our personal task but engage and contribute more to other’s task. For instance, we exchange each one’s first draft and provide some thoughts and improvements. Then we improve the work separately. Team became a place to assign task and share ideas.

In all, team provides a platform for members to integrate their ideas and target a common goal that mostly satisfy the requirements. The communication between team members is a key component that determine whether the team achieves success or not.
