This series of posts began as EDST Research Day presentations and were adapted for the blog.

In this post Yotam Ronen transforms his 2023 Research Day presentation into a blog post. Yotam introduces two radical educational experiments—the Overseas Chinese Workers’ School and the Mount Gilboa Children’s Society—and analyzes their practices using prefigurative politics—a term that describes the practices of revolutionary, non-hierarchical social movements. This analysis, he argues, presents prefigurative politics as a robust analytical framework for radical education.

In this post Jessica Lussier shares her 2021 Research Day presentation “All Flourishing is Mutual”: Reciprocity, Education, and Braiding Sweetgrass.” The post features a series of black and white photographs taken by Lussier, and a discussion of human relationships with the more-than-human world, inspired by Robin Wall Kimmerer‘s book “Braiding Sweetgrass.“

 

 

EDST Research Day 2023 took place March 31, 2023

The conference highlighted work by many EDST students and featured a keynote address from Kari Grain entitled “Facing the Brokenness: Cultivating Critical Hope in Educational Research and Teaching.“
