You may have noticed white-and-orange cruiser bikes parked behind Brock Hall and in front of IKE. This newly launched bikeshare system, Dropbike, is a program offering convenient and affordable bikesharing services around campus.

Dropbikes are available to rent for the very low price of $1/hour, and can be picked up and dropped off anywhere on campus. You can drop them off and pick them up at either a designated Dropbike haven, or at any bike rack around campus, thanks to the QR code enabled locking system. No need to fumble with weird locks, buttons and codes (I’m talking about you, Mobi…). This is the bike system of the future!

Dropbike is in its pilot stage, currently being tested across different municipalities, and a number of University campuses, across North America. You can expect to see these bikes around UBC until Spring 2019, or longer if our campus community considers the program a success.
