On Sept 19, 2018, the Student Financial Services team had our annual team retreat!

At the beginning of the day, we met up in the boardroom in the Vancouver Curling Club, had some light breakfast and coffee. Our director, Teresa Tsang, started a professional development session, which introduced and discussed the vision, mission and future expectations for both Enrolment Services and SFS team.

Next, the team played a “bingo” game and a “two truths and a Lie” game as ways to relax and get to know our colleagues better. Then we broke down into three functional groups to discuss our SMART goals and areas for improvements relating to our roles. Overall, the PD session was very successful as everyone was encouraged to contribute and lots of communications and discussions had happened within the team.

It’s curling time! We divided into four groups of four players and had a game against each of the other three teams.

“I was impressed that it’s much harder than it looks like, and it’s really a team work and could be full of strategies if you’re experienced.” – Julia Shen

After curling, we headed to Seasons in the Park restaurant at Queen Elizabeth Park where we enjoyed a delicious three-course lunch with colleagues and a beautiful city view.
