It has been a busy 12 months in the Undergraduate Admissions Office. To date we have welcomed five new babies into the Admissions family:
- Alexa Hodal (Carla)
- Galilea Sidhu-Kong (Manj)
- Katherine Ng (Winnie)
- Atlas (Cain) Paget (Jennifer)
- Nadia Winsemann. (Paola)
We anticipate that we will be receiving their applications for admission to UBC around 2033-2034.
While we know it must be very difficult to leave baby Alexa, we in the Undergraduate Admissions Office are so very happy that Carla has returned to the admission office. She is filling the role of Acting Associate Director for one year while Paola Baca is away on maternity leave. Debbie Oon will remain in her current role as Acting Manager of Applicant Services for an additional year.
Starting October 1, Debbie Lin will commence a one year secondment with the Sauder School of Business. Debbie will be filling in for Tina Huang while Tina is away for her maternity leave.
Due to child care challenges, Ellen Sin has made the difficult decision of taking a year off to accommodate her children’s childcare needs. She is scheduled to return to the office in September 2017. We wish her a year filled with many fun adventures with her family.
Brian Teghtoonian is trying out retirement by taking four months off this fall with plans of travelling and visiting with family and friends. He will be returning, we hope, to the office in December 2016. We wish him many happy travels.
Although we will miss them, Tazim Dharamsi and Bing Wong have formally retired. Combined, Tazim and Bing dedicated 55 years of service to UBC. We are circulating a “farewell and wish you well” book. Please drop to our offices on the 2nd floor and sign it.
