Two weeks ago, staff and faculty across the UBC Vancouver campus took time out from their busy days to participate in the Week of Caring – a week full of events to celebrate the official launch of the 2015 UBC United Way campaign.
From a spelling bee that promised fun and camaraderie to a food truck festival on Koerner Plaza, there was no shortage of activities for all types of personalities (foodie, yogi, antiquarian…you name it!), and certainly no shortage of good weather. The full recap of the week’s events can be found here.
Contributing to a good cause while building community in our workplace
The Week of Caring was more than just about having fun. Not only did our campus raise over $200,000 in the first two weeks of the campaign to benefit children, families, and seniors in the Lower Mainland, people also came together, worked hand-in-hand, in hopes of making a lasting impact in the communities they call home.
The campaign is far from over…
Stay tuned for another fun-filled week of events November 16-20th. Here’s a sneak peak of an event you will want to start practicing for now…
More events will be announced in the coming weeks. Please check back to the UBC United Way website for updates.
Don’t forget to donate!
If you have misplaced the email that was sent to your inbox on October 13th, but would still like to make a contribution to United Way, do not fret. There is information on ways to donate on the UBC United Way website (http://www.unitedway.ubc.ca/how-to-donate/).
