Step 1: Introduction to Immigration

In this activity we are going to look at three groups of immigrants: Chinese, German, and Irish and the reasons for why they came to Canada and what their lives were like once they arrived.

Step 1:

First off, take a look at the list of vocabulary terms below. Before you can do the activity, you will need to complete the Vocabulary Check. If any of these words or phrases are new to you, take a moment to look them up and add them to your vocab lists. If you feel you know what these terms mean, you can give the Vocab check a try! Remember, you need to show the teacher a score of 100% before you progress to the activity.

Step 2:

To get started, partner up and watch each video and read the article. Before each video or reading review the discussion questions with your partner. After you have watched or read, you and your partner need to talk about what learned and answer the discussion question.

Make sure to record your conversation and add it to your course blog under the tab: Class Conversations. This will continue to help you reflect on your improvements in speaking.
