For the longest time, supplements were believed to be crucial to our diets in order to achieve wholesome health, but as medical experts have spoken out against the US$30 billion supplement industry, stating that there is no strong evidence to suggest that chemical supplements are actually beneficial to our overall health.
Aside from calcium, vitamin B12 and vitamin D for middle aged adults, healthy individuals will not benefit from multivitamins. A balanced diet is the best way to incorporate all these micronutrients and vitamins that we need in order to stay healthy, because pills are such a concentrated compound that isn’t optimized for absorption. Thanks to raising awareness, whole food diets have become much more popular and people are becoming more conscious of their food choices as well as the supplements that they consume.
Living Alchemy recognizes the benefits and importance of sticking to whole and natural foods but have noticed that modernity does not afford our societies with the same kind of nutrients that we had prior to refrigeration and pasteurization. They delved into the ancient art of fermentation and discovered the rich benefits of the fermentation process that they have since developed.
Fermented foods have been proven through numerous studies to have copious benefits in terms of boosting the microbiome in our gut which can only be replenished through eating fermented foods, something that has somewhat fallen out of practice due to the changing norms, but the health trend is now reviving fermented foods with the popularization of kombucha and sauerkraut.
The family owned company actually began as a chain of natural health food stores in Vancouver, Canada. Having been in the preventative medical industry led them to develop their own supplements that would build health from the ground up, starting with the gut.
“If you have a strong foundation, it will be able to take anything that you throw at it. But if your foundation is weak, you’ll fall ill at the slightest exposure or change in environment. Our gut is the foundation of our health,” says Raymond Lin, the CEO of the company.
With a dedicated team of a nutritional expert, product development scientist, and a sales specialist, their small, home-grown product aims to heal through their various products, all of which are packed with 45 different strains of probiotics, prebiotics, amongst other things.
“The current concept of maintaining health is of a reactive nature. We’re hoping to use Living Alchemy in order to create supplements that live up to its reputation and help consumers optimize their gut health which will naturally build a stronger immune system that would be able to keep itself balanced. Subsequently, it will give consumers the effects that they want, fewer sick days, less discomfort and more ease in life,” explains the CEO, “We will continue to build a more comprehensive line of holistic health solutions that get to the root cause not just mask the problem –everything from mental health to aging needs.”
Living Alchemy uses a proprietary kefir-kombucha fermentation process that they call Symbio and their products are all manufactured directly in Vancouver, with the purest ingredients sourced from France.
