Some brief notes on my learning and main take-aways from Day 2 of the EDCC Conference (February 28 and 29, 2024)
For Day 1 reflections, see earlier post here.
DAY 2
Opening Panel
What stood out:
- There is more diversity in ED as compared to before; in the past our role focussed on 1:1 work – that has changed significantly (influence on policy etc)
Panelists: Maha Bali, Dominic Brierre, Gerald Sereda, Gavan Watson
Identifying research methodology for investigating educational development as a form of scholarly teaching
What stood out:
- Visual of weaving strands together brings strengths
- Metissage as a research methodology…members of the TLC are using it as a unit to do SoED
Facilitators: Members of the TLC from Thomson Rivers University
Preparing Faculty to Thrive in Challenging Times: OERs for Professional Development
What stood out:
There exists an abundance of resources that we can link to. Helena gave us 5 minutes to peruse some of these in the session and, in that short amount of time, I discovered several useful resources (for example, the course on Teaching Philosophy Statement in Scope). The challenge: making time to explore these and determine how to use them
Resources:
