Stewardship Centre for BC is looking for an on-the-ground engagement leader for community-based outreach as part of the Cats and Birds project in the Greater Vancouver area. The work will be based on a comprehensive outreach strategy that promotes responsible pet ownership, bird-friendly practices and stewardship actions that help to make communities safer for wildlife, people and the environment. Contract Details

This part-time position will begin as soon as a successful applicant is found with a mutually agreeable start date in September and will run until February 28, 2022. The work will be completed in the Greater Vancouver area, BC. Reliable transportation is required.

Job Opportunity: On-Farm Validators for BC Dairy Association

BC Dairy is hiring two new on-farm validators. This is a casual, part time position with lots of flexibility. Successful candidates will set their own schedules based on the farms assigned to them each month. Preferred location is within the Fraser Valley but with the ability to travel to other parts of the province as needed. Ideal applicants will have a deep knowledge of the dairy industry in BC and a desire for a long-term role within the dairy community.

Job Opportunity: Food Justice & Poverty Reduction Policy Analyst

 This position at Gordon Neighbourhood House works under the Director of Community Development to advance a principled, evidence-based and strengths-based approach to food justice and poverty reduction in the West End. This position takes a systems-level focus on the causes and context of poverty and food insecurity in Vancouver’s West End. This includes undertaking policy, research and evaluation functions, including working with the project team to conduct community-based research and analysis. The successful candidate will play a direct role in translating research into new Neighbourhood House initiatives responding to poverty and food security in the West End. As such, this role is appropriate for a person with a passion and skill in community mobilization and program delivery.

Job Opportunity: Interim Food Security Manager

Food is at the heart of Strathcona Community Centre. It brings us together, fuels our bodies, and connects us to the land. 

The Food Security Manager will oversee the community centre’s food security programs, which include Breakfast Program, Backpack Program, community kitchens, farm trips and various food skills and land-based workshops. This team leader also develops and oversees food supports for other community centre programs including centralized food purchasing, menu planning, snack production, food and nutrition resources and food-related infrastructure such as kitchen equipment. The Food Security Manager collaborates with neighbourhood and citywide partner organizations to address food insecurity through food access and community capacity building. This position reports to the Community Recreation Supervisor (Park Board) and the Strathcona Community Centre Association (SCCA) and will work closely with recreation programmers and other association staff.
