For our second media project we decided to create a big Art Attack à la Neil Buchanan’s show Art Attack. We have attached our rationale and write up for this project below. Pictures and video to come.
Here is a small portion of what we started with: a stack of sheets, pillow cases, blankets, towels and t-shirts.
So on our first day we decided to create a camera. Here is a look from above at our progress. (We later realized because of the colours we had, a camera might not work out so well.)
Then we decided on an iPhone, playing on the idea of the audience taking pictures of a social media art attack to later post on social media. Here is the process we used to create an app (simply a folded up t-shirt).
And finally, here is an artist’s view of our final product.
A big thank you to all those who tweeted, instagramed and hashtagged during and after our presentation. It was a great experience to see your perspectives 🙂

Dear Maggie, Brina, Saras, and Rum,
Thanks for offering this unique perspective on social media! I enjoyed reading about the process behind this project and appreciate the series of photographs you’ve included by way of documenting that process.
Your thinking here is spot on: “We considered filming it and showing the video in-class, but then we thought it might be much more interesting for the class if we turned it into a participatory, crowd-sourced project.” Perhaps if you assign such a project in future you can appoint a student to video record the process so there is a “lasting artifact of the art attack” (so to speak).
Altogether this a unique, engaging project. Thanks for your contribution!
Best regards,
Teresa
