50th Anniversary of Yuri Gagarin’s Flight…
On April 12th, 1961 Yuri Gagarin became the first cosmonaut (or astronaut if you grew up in the West) to orbit the Earth. This event will be celebrated all over the world and I will make a few posts about it as well. However, for now, I would like to post a short animation related to the event, which in my view, is worth watching. I find it very touching. Do not worry if you do not speak Russian – you will get it! Enjoy!

YURI GAGARIN
Into the space of nothingness
the young Russian went, the stars under
his feet, planets swinging like nervous samovars
outside the window of his Vostok space craft. 27 years of youth, the Soviet Cosmonaut flew
into the light of space and darkness.
“I am an ordinary Russian”, he once said of himself,
But the world knew he was a hero,
And even before he perished from the skies,
There were those on earth who repeated his words,
“I see rivers and folds in the terrain, Everything is clear!”
Yuri Gagarin, in you we saw gentleness and courage,
Your life was clear, beautiful as a living single star.
