Upcoming opportunities to connect with CPABC in September

CPABC has launched new resources for post-secondary students!

The first is a new webpage outlining the Journey to Becoming a CPA. Please take a look at the information provided in this webpage, as it outlines what you can do, as a post-secondary student, to plan your journey to becoming a CPA and be ready for the CPA Professional Education Program.

CPABC Student Recruitment also has a new booking system where you can book an appointment with a Student Recruitment Officer aligned with your post-secondary institution.

Fall Public Practice Recruit is in full swing. Public practice firms are offering recruitment events and activities across BC. Learn about getting hired for summer internships, co-op positions, and full time jobs after you graduate for 2023. Read through these events and register here.

September 6-8 3-day event CPABC Career Week Hybrid (Online on Hopin and in-person at the Vancouver Convention Centre East) Accelerate Your Career at CPABC Career Week
Learn about the diverse and interesting career options available to experienced and aspiring CPAs at our hybrid Career Week. Register to participate in virtual career workshops, employer info sessions, speed interviews, and to network with recruiters in-person.
September 7 5:30pm – 7:30pm CPABC Firms & Industry Networking Night – Kelowna In-person (Kelowna) Attend and network with firms and organizations looking to hire CPA students. Students should come prepared to make a great impression and bring their business cards and resumes.
September 9 12:00pm – 1:00pm Post-Secondary CPABC Information Session Online Are you a post-secondary student interested in becoming a CPA after you graduate? This session will cover the CPA program in detail and include an open Q&A with CPABC’s Senior Student Recruitment Officer. This session will be tailored to post-secondary students interested in becoming a CPA, and is open to students from any university or college program.
September 14 12:00pm – 1:00pm Practical Experience Requirements (PER) Q & A Session Online Are you planning to pursue the CPA designation and wondering about Practical Experience Requirements (PER) of the CPA Professional Education Program (PEP)? Attend our free question and answer session with CPABC staff who can answer your questions.
September 15 12:00pm – 1:00pm CPABC How to Series ‘Work your passion with CPA’ Online Hosted quarterly, this new webinar series “CPABC How to Series” features interactive breakout rooms to connect audience members directly with our Panelists to ask their own questions and learn all the “how to’s” of what is involved in becoming a CPA. This webinar will feature 3 panelists who live and work their foodie passion with their CPA. Learn how to make the CPA designation your own, and how to align your accounting career path to your interests, passions and values. Learn how our panelists have connected the dots and aligned their foodie passion into their successful accounting career paths!
September 22 12:00pm – 12:45pm Conversation with a CPA Online Are you curious about what CPAs actually do? Join the conversation with Reena Bienko, CPA, CA, Manager of Corporate Accounting and FP&A from Kriska Transportation Group. You will have an opportunity to ask your own questions about a career in accounting.
September 28 5:00pm – 6:00pm CPA’s Journey – Pre-approved Program Route (PPR) Online CPA’s Journey features real-life CPAs and CPA Candidates working in various sectors. Speakers will talk about their CPA journey and how they achieved a work-life balance while in the CPA Professional Education Program (PEP). In this webinar, hear from our panelists, Neil Ma, CPA and Dilsharn Mokha, on why they chose the Pre-approved Program Route (PPR), what influenced their decision, and what doors this pathway opened for them.
